Guyana Laboratory is First South American Laboratory to Achieve A2LA ISO 15189:2012 Accreditation
October 3, 2017, Frederick, MD – A2LA is proud to announce the accreditation of Dr. Balwant Singh’s Hospital in Guyana. This is A2LA’s first ISO 15189:2012 accredited laboratory on the South American continent.
Dr. Balwant Singh’s Hospital, located in Georgetown, Guyana, achieved this globally-recognized laboratory accreditation by successfully completing a rigorous on-site assessment and accreditation process demonstrating that it meets or exceeds the requirements of ISO 15189:2012 Medical Laboratories-Requirements for Quality and Competence, and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) policies required for testing, through an internationally-recognized accreditation body signatory that maintains the high-level ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement obligations.
Dr. Balwant Singh’s Hospital’s Laboratory Director, Dr. Madhu Singh stated, “We had a very good experience with the A2LA team. They made the entire accreditation process smooth and hassle free. They were also meticulous and professional in their approach. We are proud to have achieved accreditation through A2LA which is an organization of International repute and has put us on the map of internationally accredited labs.”
The achievement of A2LA accreditation demonstrates Dr. Balwant Singh’s Hospital’s competence to manage and perform the activities defined by its A2LA Scope of Accreditation, A2LA Certificate 4428.01. These activities include testing in the Chemistry and Hematology specialties.
