Agency: Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)
Action: Final Rule
Title: Safety Standard for Crib Mattresses
Summary: The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a direct final rule updating the mandatory safety standard for crib mattresses under section 104 of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). The rule updates the regulation in 16 CFR part 1241 by incorporating the latest version of the voluntary standard ASTM F2933-25, replacing the earlier ASTM F2933 21 edition currently referenced in the rule. The updated standard includes revised requirements and test methods, as well as clarifications and editorial updates, while the Commission maintains certain additional safety modifications previously adopted by CPSC to address hazards such as mattress firmness, entrapment risks, and structural failures.

Action: Final rule
Title: Revocation of Methods of Analysis Regulation
Summary: FDA issued a final rule revoking 21 CFR § 2.19, a regulation that historically described the agency’s policy for selecting analytical methods when no specific method was prescribed in statute or regulation. The rule previously directed FDA enforcement programs to use analytical methods from the AOAC “Official Methods of Analysis” (13th edition, 1980) when available. FDA determined the regulation is no longer necessary because relying on a fixed edition of the AOAC methods limits flexibility and prevents the agency from adopting newer validated methods as science evolves. Instead, FDA will identify preferred analytical methods through guidance documents, and compliance program guidance, which can be updated more frequently.

Agency: Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
Action: Final rule
Title: Unlicensed Use of the 6 GHz Band; Expanding Flexible Use in Mid-Band Spectrum Between 3.7 and 24 GHz
Summary: The FCC adopted new rules allowing unlicensed geofenced variable power (GVP) devices to operate in portions of the 6 GHz band (5.925-7.125 GHz). These devices may operate at higher power levels than previously permitted for certain unlicensed equipment but must use geofencing systems to prevent harmful interference with licensed services such as microwave links and radio astronomy observatories. The action expands opportunities for innovative wireless technologies, including next-generation Wi-Fi and other short-range high-capacity communications, while maintaining safeguards for existing spectrum users. The rule modifies 47 CFR parts 0 and 15 to implement these new technical and operational requirements for unlicensed spectrum devices.
