The A2LA Validation and Verification Accreditation Program is designed for organizations seeking to demonstrate their ability to competently evaluate claims and deliver consistent, reliable validation/verification claims. ISO/IEC 17029 serves as a foundation for the VVBs and is further supported through schemes and programs in which support their claim(s) (i.e. Greenhouse gas emissions, environmental information, sustainability, carbon markets)”
The intended use of ISO/IEC 17029 is to provide general principles and requirements for the competence, consistent operation, and impartiality of validation and verification bodies. These bodies perform validation and/or verification as their conformity assessment activities.
Validations are confirmation that a projected or future claim is plausible and based on corroborated evidence. Whereas, verification is confirmation that current or past claim is truthful, accurate, and supported by evidence.
