A2LA Today l December 2016 l Number 133
By Kelsey Roberts, Marketing & Business Development Manager
Peter Unger, A2LA President Emeritus, has served on the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) Executive Committee since 2001. His most recent position as ILAC Chair has spanned from 2011 until the close of 2016.
At the 2016 ILAC General Assembly, Vice Chair, Merih Malmqvist, gave the following statement about Unger’s contributions:
“He has had major contributions to ILAC and its members. In fact, he has contributed to the development of ILAC and its members more than anyone I know.
Peter has always focused on the needs of the market and end-users and has stubbornly brought their views into the discussions.
He has helped increase ILAC’s visibility in the eyes of global organizations such as WTO, OECD, World Bank, global standards makers like ISO and IEC, WADA, OIML, BIPM and many more.
He has also actively promoted the ILAC MRA for regulators and other users of conformity assessment results.”
A2LA thanks Pete for his continued service to the global accreditation community and continually pushing us closer to our vision of “Accreditation accepted everywhere.”
