By Lauren Bisson, A2LA HR Generalist

Since the last edition of A2LA Today, A2LA has welcomed several new staff members to our growing team!

Mr. David Fricker received his B.S. in Biology from Towson University. Prior to joining A2LA, David worked at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where he was a manufacturing technician and was also responsible for a variety of quality assurance duties. David joined the Life Sciences Team as an Accreditation Officer in March of 2017.

Mr. Joe Appolonia is a new Accreditation Officer on the Product Certification and Electrical team. Joe received his B.S. in Biology from Young Harris College, Georgia. Prior to joining A2LA in May 2017, Joe was employed as a Micro Lab Leader at Nelson Packaging Company in Ohio, where he performed auditing duties and led a team of microbiologists in proper methodology and testing. Joe also has previous experience working as a teacher’s assistant during his undergraduate career.

Mr. Ryan Kidwiler also recently joined A2LA as an Accreditation Officer on the Product Certification and Electrical team this past May. Ryan received his B.S. in Biology from Shepherd University, WV. He was a committed employee at Food Lion throughout his undergraduate career and most recently held the position of Assistant Manager until deciding to join A2LA. He also has experience working as a research assistant in a microbiology lab throughout his time in college.

Mr. Peter Davis joined A2LA in June 2017 after graduating from the University of Maryland, where he received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering. Throughout his undergraduate career, Peter has gained experience working as a researcher and dedicating his time to volunteer work. He also previously worked within the Carroll County Public School while pursuing his degree. Peter is an Accreditation Officer on the Inspection Body and Materials Testing team.

SUMMER INTERNS

Ms. Etta Blackwell came on-board as an intern in our Marketing department during her summer break. Etta recently finished her junior year at Hood College, where she is pursuing her B.A. in Integrated Marketing Communications. In addition to serving as a sales associate at Bed Bath and Beyond, Etta also spends her time as a volunteer with Celebrate Frederick, an organization that facilitates special activities and events for the Frederick community.

Ms. Brooke Miller joined A2LA as an intern in the HR department in early June after receiving her high school diploma. During her internship, Brooke will gain experience assisting with various projects in the HR department and also learning how A2LA operates as a business. Brooke will be with A2LA throughout the duration of the summer before she begins her undergraduate career at West Virginia University, where she will pursue a degree in business.

Ms. Kate Querry also joined A2LA as an intern in the marketing department this summer. Kate recently finished her junior year in high school and plans to pursue an undergraduate degree in Biology or Chemistry after she receives her diploma next year. Kate’s internship will provide her with hands-on experience working in a professional setting as she assists with various marketing projects and learns about how the department integrates in to A2LA’s daily operations.

A2LA is always looking for qualified candidates to join our team. If you or someone you know may be interested in employment with A2LA, please refer them to the A2LA career page for more information and instructions on how to apply.

We are happy to welcome David, Joe, Ryan, Peter, Etta, Brooke & Kate to the A2LA Family!
