By Andrew Bohan, A2LA Senior Accreditation Officer
A2LA is now recognized by the City of Philadelphia Department of Licenses and Inspections to provide ISO/IEC 17020:2012 Requirements for the Operation of Various Types of Bodies Performing Inspection accreditation for Special Inspection Agencies conducting work for the City of Philadelphia. Beginning in October 2017, all agencies performing special inspections must be formally registered with the Department of Licenses and Inspections. Per the City of Philadelphia Licenses + Inspections Special Inspections Agencies and Inspectors Requirements Document, an agency may use accreditation from an established accreditation entity to ISO/IEC 17020 as an alternative to the Agency Experience Requirements.
“A2LA is excited for this opportunity to offer our internationally-recognized inspection body accreditation program to the special inspection agencies doing work in the City of Philadelphia,” noted Elizabeth Carbonella, A2LA Inspection Body Program Manager. “Our program has been well-received in other jurisdictions and we look forward to providing the high level of technical inspection and customer service that A2LA is known for.”
A2LA has an established accreditation program to ensure all the requirements of Chapter 17 of the International Building Code are being met for various jurisdictions and will be able to build on this to include the specific requirements listed in the City of Philadelphia Licenses + Inspections Special Inspections Agencies and Inspectors Requirements Document.
