PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Three staff members have taken on new roles within the leadership team to improve internal processes and efficiencies and create a more seamless customer experience.
Frederick, Md (August 3, 2023) – The American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) announces changes in its executive leadership team. These changes will improve internal processes and efficiencies as well as create a more seamless customer service experience.
In January of 2023, A2LA’s Chris Gunning filled the new role of Director of Operational Excellence to focus on improving internal quality and processes. He is responsible for all technical resources in the association and for ensuring quality of operations in all departments, and at all levels.
“I now have the opportunity to work with all departments within A2LA to ensure that quality is of the highest importance in everything we do,” said Gunning. “This includes working with our assessor corps, staff members, and the Accreditation Council to optimize processes aimed at increasing efficiency and high-quality outputs. I also have the opportunity to attend more industry meetings and tradeshows in order to increase A2LA’s visibility. I look forward to growing in this role for years to come.”
Before moving into his current role, Gunning served as a General Manager of Accreditation Services for 3 years and various other positions since he began working with A2LA in 2009. He also has 10 years of laboratory experience in the biological field working in a variety of regulatory environments from research through cGMP-compliant vaccine production.
In addition to Gunning’s new role, A2LA’s Andrew Bohan joins the leadership team in a new role as the Senior Director of Marketing and Business Development. Bohan has been with A2LA since 2012 and now oversees both marketing and business development departments. In this role, he works to ensure all activities assist with A2LA’s strategic goals as well as A2LA’s mission and vision.
“I’m looking forward to using my extensive experience in accreditation services in a capacity that will assist our expert marketing and business development teams,” says Bohan. “By unifying these two departments, we can focus on creating new efficiencies between them.”
A2LA’s Julie Bonebrake has also joined the non-profit’s executive leadership team as the Interim Director of Marketing. Previously serving as A2LA’s Marketing Manager, Bonebrake’s commitment to evolving the marketing department has made her an invaluable asset to the organization and has earned her this well-deserved seat at the table. Bonebrake has more than 15 years of experience in marketing and prides herself on meeting prospective customers where they are in the buying journey.
In this role, Bonebrake is responsible for brand development and customer relations through numerous channels, including digital media, social media, print mail, search engine optimization, pay-per-click advertising, industry and tradeshow events, and so much more.
“I aim to increase A2LA’s visibility among laboratories, inspection bodies, product certification bodies, and other types of conformity assessment bodies,” says Bonebrake. “A2LA’s mission to increase quality within the world of science is an important one, and accreditation touches many more facets of our lives than most of us realize.”
