Since the previous issue of A2LA Today, the following individuals have achieved the status of “Staff Approved Lead Assessor” and have begun performing assessments for A2LA:
Shawn Kassner – July 5, 2016 – Mr. Kassner resides in Lakewood, CO and received his Bachelor of Science from Metropolitan State University of Denver. He is a Senior Scientist with Neptune and Company, Inc., and has been part of the environmental analytical testing community for 27 years. He develops and conducts reviews of quality assurance and proficiency testing programs for laboratories, programs, and agencies and is an active participant in The NELAC Institute (TNI) and A2LA proficiency testing, reference material, and life sciences communities.
Mr. Kassner will be assigned to cover assessments in the reference materials and proficiency testing programs.
Lauryl Smith – July 11, 2016 – Ms. Smith resides in Wilson, NC and received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, with a Biochemistry minor, and conducted Post Graduate work in Medical Biochemistry with Karolinska Institute in Huddinge, Sweden. She has over 20 years of experience as a chemist/biochemist in quality control as well as conducting laboratory assessments to the ISO/IEC 17025 requirements and internal quality audits with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Phillip Morris, Microbac Laboratories, Astra Zeneca, Wyeth, and Barr Pharm.
Ms. Smith will be assigned to assessments in the biological, chemical, and forensics fields of testing.
Julia Sancricca – August 9, 2016 – Ms. Sancricca resides in San Martin, Buenos Aires, Argentina and is a chemist having graduated from the University of Morón (Faculty of Exact, Chemical and Natural Science) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is also an OECD Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) expert.
Prior to joining A2LA as an assessor, she served in technical and management roles in different organizations including ATANOR SA, and the Chemistry Laboratory of the Instituto Analítico Especializado. She spent an additional 10 years working in the field of accreditation with OAA (Organismo Argentino de Acreditación) where she was qualified and performed assessments as a lead assessor and technical expert for ISO/IEC 17025. She also served as the manager of the OAA Laboratory Accreditation Area for 8 years and developed the Proficiency Testing Provider Accreditation Program (ISO/IEC 17043). She was the first manager in charge of the OAA GLP National Monitoring Program, developed by her in early 2008, and served as a GLP Lead Inspector.
Ms. Sancricca will be assigned to assessments in the Chemical and Environmental fields of testing as well as the Proficiency Testing Provider program.
