Querry one of 53 people selected to participate in statewide professional development program
Frederick, Md (February 22, 2023) – The American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA), one of the largest conformity assessment accreditation bodies in the world, is proud to announce that Randall Querry, Director of Government Relations, has been selected as one of 53 people to participate in the exceptional program, Leadership Maryland.
“I’m thrilled about this opportunity and look forward to sharing ideas with other leaders from across the state,” said Querry. “Nonprofit organizations like the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation offer careers that make a difference. In our case, that includes advancing public safety and consumer protection by ensuring that laboratories testing everything from food to mobile phones to electric vehicle charging stations meet international standards. I’m looking forward to bringing what I’ll learn through Leadership Maryland to our team at A2LA.”
Leadership Maryland is a statewide professional development program for senior-level executives who have made significant contributions to their industries and communities. The 8-month program focuses on Maryland’s most important issues, including economic development, education, health and human services, criminal justice, the environment, and diversity. Graduates of the program are better prepared to address these issues and create lasting change within the state of Maryland.
“We are excited to announce our next class and welcome these accomplished and motivated individuals to Leadership Maryland,” said David Fike ’16 (LM) president and CEO, Leadership Maryland, in a recent press release. “The 53 members of the Class of 2023 are each influential leaders within their companies, industries, and communities, and have the desire to make a broader impact within our state. And the knowledge, experience, and connections they will gain in our program will prepare them to do just that.”
Accreditation is a formal recognition earned by laboratories and other organizations proving they are qualified, competent, and comply with international standards. Laboratories of all kinds can become accredited, including calibration laboratories, cannabis testing laboratories, environmental testing laboratories, and much more. Other organizations can also be accredited, including inspection bodies and product certification bodies. A2LA currently has over 4,000 actively accredited certificates representing all 50 US states and more than 50 countries.
