Laboratory Accreditation Program
(ISO/IEC 17025)

New Policy for Accredited Laboratories

The A2LA Board of Directors has issued a policy requiring all laboratories to have an official copy of ISO/IEC 17025. Laboratories are being asked to confirm, in writing to A2LA, that the official copy is available on-site. To view and print the ISO/IEC 17025 confirmation form, click here.

Preparing for Accreditation

Accreditation Process Summary

Application Materials (please follow the links in order).

Laboratories seeking or maintaining A2LA accreditation must comply with all policy and requirements documents listed below.

  1. Order ISO 17025.
  2. Print and complete the Application. Provide A2LA with faxed confirmation (see page 16 of the application) that you have an official copy of ISO/IEC 17025 so that we can send you the ISO/IEC 17025 Assessor Checklist.
  3. Print and review the General Requirements for Accreditation.
  4. Print, review, sign and submit the Conditions for Accreditation.
  5. Print and review the Proficiency Testing Requirements and Annex. Please investigate and participate in proficiency testing as soon as possible.
  6. Print and review the Traceability Policy. To locate an acceptable source of calibration services, please search the A2LA Scopes of Accreditation. Alternatively, you can choose a calibration laboratory that is accredited by one of our mutual recognition arrangement partners.
  7. Print and review the Advertising Policy.
  8. Print and review all the applicable Technical Program Requirements and Selection List for which you are seeking accreditation. Please be sure to specify in your application, all the special programs for which you are seeking accreditation.
  9. If your laboratory performs testing and/or calibration at sites other than you permanent laboratory premises, print out the Site Testing/Calibration Requirements and Checklist.
